Well Pump VFD Controller

Well pump and submersible pump controllers use a variable frequency drive (VFD) to protect expensive borehole motors and keep water flowing at constant pressure. Our controllers run soft start, constant-pressure PID, and water-level control, and can include an MPPT stage for solar-powered sites. Dry-run protection stops the pump before it overheats or runs on empty.

Select by motor power (0.75–250 kW), supply — grid, solar, or generator — and the sensor set you have: pressure transducer, float switches, or ultrasonic level. Long cable runs to the borehole raise voltage drop, so size the drive for the motor current at the end of the cable. Anti-sand and cooling measures extend motor life in dirty water.

How to Select the Right Well Pump

  1. Check the motor nameplate: rated power, current, voltage and frequency.
  2. Identify the load type — variable torque (fans, pumps) or constant torque (conveyors, compressors, mills).
  3. Match the drive's rated output current to the motor's full-load current, not just the kW rating.
  4. Confirm the overload requirement: 120% for light duty, 150% or more for heavy duty.
  5. Check the environment: ambient temperature, dust, humidity and cable length derating.
