Project location: Zhangjiagang, Suzhou, ChinaCooling Water Pump Retrofit with a Permanent-Magnet Motor in ZhangjiagangA cooling water pump driving an industrial chiller was converted to a 75 kW permanent-magnet motor on a 150 A YZJ580E drive, with local/remote control from the panel door and run and fault signals back to the plant PLC.
Project location: Linyi, Shandong, ChinaVibro-Compacting Press for Engineered Quartz Slabs: Drive Selection for a High-Inertia ShakerQuartz slab presses compact a resin-and-quartz mix with 28–51 Hz vibration under vacuum. The vibration motor has a heavy eccentric load, so drive selection follows starting inertia, not just the 110 kW nameplate.
Project location: Fuzhou, Fujian, ChinaMushroom Substrate Bagging Machine: Sizing a Drive for Hard Accel and DecelA substrate bagger weighs out each bag by counting turns of an auger. The motor reverses constantly and has to accelerate in 0.30 s and stop in 0.10 s, so the 7.5 kW motor is paired with a 25 A drive.

A 37 kW linear motor driven by a YDS8045 removes both problems — and had to be commissioned over a 1,500 m cable.

Measured current: 68 A balanced.
Project location: Chemical plant, xanthan gum extractionDirect-Drive Retrofitting Xanthan Gum Fermentation Tanks: Gearbox Out, 155 rpm InA xanthan gum tank stirred at 150 rpm through a gearbox now runs a 160 rpm permanent-magnet motor direct. Production went up, and a metered comparison against a neighbouring tank showed 2,400 kWh saved per 72-hour cycle.
Project location: Wastewater treatment plants, Asia-Pacific and AfricaDecanter Centrifuge Drives on a Shared DC Bus: Recovering the Scroll's Regenerated EnergyA decanter runs a bowl motor and a scroll motor at slightly different speeds; the scroll is pushed backwards and regenerates. Wiring the two YD580 drives to one DC bus puts that energy back into the bowl instead of burning it in a resistor.
Project location: Stone quarry, wire saw cuttingCuring Overcurrent Trips on a Quarry Wire Saw: Free-Run Stop and Torque LimitsA 45 kW wire saw tripped on OC at start and mid-cut. Two settings were responsible, not the drive rating: a free-run stop that let the wire jam the kerf, and a torque limit far above what the motor could use.
Project location: Coal mine, main haulage conveyorDual-Drive Permanent-Magnet Belt Conveyor with Load Sharing for a Coal MineTwo drum-integrated PMSM drives share one coal conveyor: the master holds speed, the slave holds torque, and the pair agree to within 5 %. Load current stayed flat at 240 A and a fully loaded belt started at 360 A.
Project location: Shanxi, ChinaReplacing Star-Delta Starting on Blast Furnace Conveyors at Shanxi Jinnan Iron & SteelStar-delta starting cut the inrush but left the motors running at fixed mains frequency and voltage. Replacing it with drives cut the measured consumption of a 160 kW conveyor by around 200 kWh a day.
