Aturia Visits Yolico to Scope Drives for Pumps and Marine Applications

A delegation from the Italian Aturia group visited the Wuxi works in March to discuss product applications, technical integration and a longer-term supply relationship. Aturia entered centrifugal pumps in 1927, established itself with a submersible motor patent in 1946, and expanded across the Mediterranean from the 1960s into water supply, marine, mining and offshore applications.
The technical sessions centred on drive configuration and customisation for 400 V, 660 V, 1140 V, 3300 V, 6.6 kV and 10 kV equipment, and on how those drives would behave in the chemical, mining and marine engineering sectors Aturia serves.
For a pump builder the relevant questions are current margin, starting torque under a closed valve, behaviour on long motor cables where the pump is remote from the panel, and protection against dry running. Those are the points the two engineering teams worked through, alongside the wider question of which Aturia product families could be shipped with Yolico drives specified from the start rather than retrofitted.
Aturia cited the performance of Yolico's drives together with cost position and after-sales service as the reasons for making the visit. The two companies agreed to continue detailed discussions with the aim of a long-term cooperation across several application areas.
