YDBU Braking Unit 160–355 kW
The YDBU is a braking unit for 380 V three-phase drive systems, rated 160–355 kW per unit. It dumps excess DC-bus energy during deceleration, with 600–760 VDC action voltage, LED status display and overcurrent, overheat and short-circuit protection.
| Unit capacity | 160–355 kW @ 3-phase 380 V system |
|---|---|
| Action voltage | 600–760 VDC, 15 V hysteresis |
| Panel display | LED digital |
| Protection | Overcurrent, overheat, short circuit |
| Connection | Single or parallel (master/slave) |
Product Description
When a drive decelerates a high-inertia load, the motor returns energy to the DC bus and the bus voltage rises. The YDBU monitors the bus and switches a braking resistor at 600–760 VDC with a 15 V hysteresis, keeping the bus below the drive's overvoltage trip level so the machine can stop on schedule.
One YDBU covers 160–355 kW on a 380 V three-phase system. For larger frames, units connect in parallel with master/slave control so the braking current shares evenly. The LED panel shows status at a glance, and built-in overcurrent, overheat and short-circuit protection keeps fault conditions safe.

FAQ about YDBU
Do I need a braking unit for my application?
If the load decelerates quickly or drives the motor downhill — hoists, centrifuges, centrifugal fans, downhill conveyors — the regenerated energy will trip the drive on overvoltage. Tell us your motor kW and stopping time and we confirm the YDBU size within 24 hours.
Can several units work together?
Yes. YDBU units connect in parallel with master/slave control, so braking current shares evenly on larger drive systems without circulating currents.
